Volleyball Triad Holds Firm on CACC Weekly Report

New Haven, Conn. - (10/12/2015) – Shouldering the load in a historic 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Georgian Court University on Wednesday, October 7, senior outside hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.), freshman setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.), and junior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) continued to hold their spots on the CACC Weekly Report. The trio qualified for the third consecutive week, with Trabosh earning Defensive Player of the Week honors as Biro and Sutton merited another Honor Roll mention.

Exuding grit and resilience on Side-Out Foundation Dig Pink Night, Chestnut Hill College climbed out of a two-set hole to score a resounding 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-12, 15-13) victory over Georgian Court University on Wednesday, the first triumph over the Lions in program history. Trabosh, the nation’s leader in total digs, recorded a single-game record 45 digs and Biro sealed the watershed win with her season-best 22nd kill as the Griffins snatched a critical result in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division race.

Wednesday marked the first time that Chestnut Hill College came back from two sets down since a 2013 match against Goldey-Beacom College.

Biro wound up one kill shy of her career high and notched five block assists as half of a brick wall that also included junior middle hitter Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.), who chipped in 11 kills and set a school record with nine block assists on the night. Junior outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) established a new career benchmark with 27 digs, and Sutton did so with 53 assists, which she paired with 16 digs, four aces, and three block assists.

Trabosh recorded her second Defensive Player of the Week selection of the season, while Biro cracked the Honor Roll for the fourth time in 2015.

The Griffins return to Sorgenti Arena to host first-place Philadelphia University in a critical CACC contest on Tuesday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m.
