Biro Books Fifth CACC Weekly Report Appearance
New Haven, Conn. - (11/10/2015) – Making her fifth appearance on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Report this season, senior outside hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) earned Honor Roll recognition with 40.5 points in a 2-1 week of league play. She currently leads the Griffins in points (389.0) with 340 kills, third in the CACC, on a .190 (340K-147E-1016TA) hitting percentage and 41 total blocks.
The Chestnut Hill College (11-19, 10-7) women’s volleyball team started the season’s stretch run on a high note, completing a season sweep of visiting University of the Sciences (USciences) on Wednesday, November 4, with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 26-24) verdict. Biro was the catalyst, pounding a match-high 17 kills on a .406 hitting percentage (17K-43-32TA) for the Griffins, who snapped a two-game skid and picked up a crucial victory in the CACC South Division race.
A day later, the Griffins made the USciences’ Athletic Recreation Center (ARC) feel like home, rolling to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-4, 25-9) rout of "host" Nyack College in CACC action. Biro connected for 10 kills to lead the Griffins, who emptied their bench for kills from nine different players on the night.
Chestnut Hill College continued their CACC playoff push with a league match at Georgian Court University on Saturday, November 7. The Lions earned a split of the season series, defending their home court to the tune of a 3-1 (25-13, 25-22, 25-27, 25-21) final. Three Griffins finished in double-digit kills, including Biro who went for 11 kills, five digs, and a block assist.
The women's volleyball team tries to stay in the CACC postseason race on Tuesday, November 10, when they travel to Philadelphia University for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
