Wildgoose Warrants Sixth Weekly CACC Mention

New Haven, Conn. - (1/25/2016) – For the sixth time this season, freshman forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) earned recognition on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Report. This week, the Chestnut Hill College rookie post garnered her second Honor Roll mention after averaging 11.5 points-per-game (PPG) and 8.5 rebounds-per-game (RPG) in contests versus the league’s top two teams in Philadelphia University and Bloomfield College.

In the first meeting of teacher and student, on Monday, January 18, Coach West's Griffins trailed Coach Shirley's Lady Rams by as many as 12 points, 43-31, near end of the third quarter (2:08). Chestnut Hill College used a 14-2 run to tie the contest at 45-45 with 7:25 remaining and a free throw by freshman guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) gave the Griffins a one point lead, 46-45 (6:58), but the momentum was not enough to secure a CACC victory as the Lady Rams controlled their possessions, leaving the Griffins little time to combat an eventual 59-52 defeat.

Kuhnen was one of the two Griffins in double digits as she led Chestnut Hill College with 14 points on 6-of-17 (.353) shooting. She also recorded four rebounds, two assists, and three blocks. Wildgoose as the other with 11 points and eight rebounds. Trossi offered all nine of her points in the second half. She also provided two assists and two steals. In a versatile performance, Milligan totaled seven points, seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals.

Chestnut Hill College played catch-up the entire evening on Friday, January 22, as CACC North-leading, Bears used their size advantage and seven first-quarter turnovers to establish a 25-7 lead at the close of the first quarter. With a united effort, the Griffins made up some ground in the second quarter, 34-20, but an evenly played third quarter left the Scarlet and Gold scrabbling in a 65-48 league final. Three Griffins finished in double figures as Kuhnen headlined the trio with 13 points and Wildgoose best supported her with a double digit performance (12 points), a team-high nine rebounds, and a block.

The women’s basketball looks to rebound on Tuesday, January 26, when they welcome Goldey-Beacom College to a 6:00 p.m. league contest.
