CACC Mention Three Griffins among Weekly Honorees

New Haven, Conn. – (3/8/2016) – For their roles in a 1-2 week of competition at the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) (March 1), Shorter University (March 4), and Millersville University (March 6), sophomore midfielder Hunter Leckonby (Charleston, S.C.), freshman midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.), and senior midfielder Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.) were recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Report. Leckonby earned her second straight CACC Defensive Player of the Week award while Reinert was honored as the league’s Rookie of the Week. Keimig garnered a CACC Weekly Honor Roll mention.

Tied 6-6 at halftime, Tuesday’s women's lacrosse contest at FIT unfortunately ended in a 14-6 defeat as Chestnut Hill College was left behind in an 8-0 second half. The Panthers offered two players with four goals apiece while senior midfielder Keimig captained the Griffins' effort with two goals, an assist, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Leckonby tried to help Keimig turn the tide with six ground balls and three caused turnovers in addition to a goal and an assist. Reinert added a goal and a draw to the cause.

Outscoring Shorter University 8-4 in the first half and 9-3 in the second half on Friday, March 4, Chestnut Hill College captured their first win of the season and the first career victory for Head Coach Brianne Timony in a 17-7 final. Junior midfielder Jacklyn O'Leary (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the Griffins' offensive outburst with four goals, an assist, seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Five others record multiple tallies while junior attack Samantha Herron (Cinnaminson, N.J.) served as playmaker with four assists. Reinert totaled three goals and two groundballs while Keimig recorded two goals to go along with four ground balls and four draws while Leckonby added a caused turnover to her second goal of the season.

After returning from their spring trip, Chestnut Hill College controlled the momentum early in Sunday’s tightly-played contest at Millersville University. An early 3-0 Griffin lead was negated by 6-1 Marauder run that put the home team in the driver's seat at halftime, 7-6. But after intermission scoring came at a premium and a pair of home goals midway through the frame allowed them to stay ahead for good in a 12-9 victory. Keimig led the Griffin offense with her second hat trick of the season while recording a ground ball and a caused turnover to her scoring performance. Leckonby totaled a goal and an assist apiece in addition to recovering three ground balls and caused three turnovers. Reinert contributed a draw control.

Chestnut Hill College will host Kutztown University in their upcoming home opener, which is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. opening draw on Saturday, March 12.
