Wins versus Devils Returns Bocaletto To CACC Men’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll
Philadelphia, Pa. - (3/30/2016) – Chestnut Hill College used a 2-1 doubles advantage and a string of singles victories to secure a 7-2 victory over the University of the Sciences (USciences) in Saturday’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener. Sophomore Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) was the only Griffin to win in both formats, returning him to the league’s Men’s Tennis Honor Roll for a second straight week.
It was Bocaletto and classmate Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) who won Chestnut Hill College (6-4, 1-0) their first point of the match as they defeated their USciences (5-10, 0-1) opponents by an 8-3 margin, 1-0. The other two doubles matches finished by the same score with the Devils stealing the top team flight before seniors Henry Boyle (London, England) and Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) secured number three doubles, 2-1.
The Griffins separated in individual play, where consecutive wins at number six singles (6-1, 6-1), number five singles (6-2, 6-0), and number four singles (6-1, 6-3) clinched the match early, 5-1. Freshman Lucas Abe (Duderstadt, Germany), freshman Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden), and sophomore Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) were the respective victors, who preceded a 0-6, 6-3, 10-4, number two singles triumph from freshman Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France), 6-1, and a 6-3, 6-7, 11-9 number one singles win from Bocaletto, 7-1. The Devils won the final singles flight to finish, 2-6, 7-6, 10-6, at number three, 7-2.
The Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team continues their CACC schedule on Wednesday, April 6, when they host Philadelphia University in a 3:00 p.m. match.
