Six Goal Performance Places Dambach On ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Central Islip, N.Y. - (4/4/2016) – Junior attack Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) was on point in Chestnut Hill College’s 15-5 East Coast Conference (ECC) victory over Dominican College, scoring his career-high six goals on only seven shots. He also provided two assists in addition to recovering five ground balls to earn a mention on the league’s weekly Honor Roll. This is Dambach first appearance on the ECC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Report this season.
The combination of Dambach and sophomore attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) proved lethal for Dominican College, who became Chestnut Hill College’s second ECC victim of the season. Dominating a sloppy contest that saw the Griffins capitalize on a 41-29 ground ball advantage, the duo combined for 13 points (10 goals and three assists) in a 15-5 victory.
Senior defenseman Derick Darnulc (Baldwin, N.Y.) got Chestnut Hill College (2-6, 2-3) started early with an unassisted tally just 27 seconds (14:33) after the opening face-off, 1-0. An unassisted score from sophomore midfielder Joshua Pope (Schnecksville, Pa.) then increased the advantage to 2-0 before the 13-minute mark (13:06) of the first quarter. The initial tallies were followed by a string of Dambach goals and a last-second score (0:06) from sophomore midfielder Brian Sinex (Holmes, Pa.) that gave the Griffins a commanding 6-0 heading to the second quarter. A 2-1 Griffin edge in that succeeding frame established an insurmountable 8-1 margin for the Chargers, whose four second-half scores were out done by seven more for the Scarlet and Gold, 15-5.
The Chestnut Hill College men’s lacrosse team continues their ECC schedule on Saturday, April 9, when they welcome the University of the District of Columbia to the Plymouth Whitemarsh Football Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
