Magee’s Inside-the-Park Grand Slam Merits CACC Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. – (4/11/2016) – Freshman Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.) donned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Weekly Report for the first time this season as an Honor Roll mention. The Griffin right fielder was 8-for-16 (.500) with five runs-batted-in (RBI), four of which were recorded the program’s first-ever inside-the-park grand slam. She also stole three bases, adding to a team-high 12 (12-for-15, .800) successful swipes this season.

Magee was 2-for-3 in Wednesday’s, April 6, CACC doubleheader at Holy Family University. In the opener, she recorded a single in the fourth inning after walking in the second inning. But she did not score on either occasion as the Tiger defense frustrated Chestnut Hill College (10-30, 7-9) in a five-inning 8-0 final. Magee also tripled in the nightcap, plating one of the Griffins’ four runs in a 10-4 final.

Chestnut Hill College's offense was in full swing on Friday, April 8, afternoon at Matera Field as the Griffins swept their third CACC doubleheader of the season with matching 12-3 five-inning victories over Felician University. Magee highlighted the opener with a 3-for-4 effort that included a third-inning inside the park grand slam before recording two more hits in the nightcap.

She was 1-for-6 with a walk and a run at Post University, who the Griffins challenged in a CACC doubleheader on Sunday, April 10. Chestnut Hill College put a run on the scoreboard in their first at-bat of game two thanks to a one-out Magee walk. After another walk and a singled to left field she became the Griffins’ first run of the game, 1-0. But the home side matched the tally in the bottom of the frame, 1-1, before adding solo scores in the fourth, 2-1, and fifth innings, 3-1.

Chestnut Hill College softball team plays their next CACC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 12, when they visit Georgian Court University for a 2:300 p.m. twin bill.
