Herron and Lang Land on CACC Weekly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. – (4/11/2016) – Chestnut Hill College scored a pair of Central Atlantic College Conference (CACC) wins this week with road victories at Dominican College, 13-8 on Tuesday, April 5, and Post University, 22-8 on Saturday, April 9. For their part in the triumphs, junior attack Samantha Herron (Cinnaminson, N.J.) and junior goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang (Manassas, Va.) were recognized on the league’s weekly honor roll.
Chestnut Hill College rolled to a 13-8 league victory on Tuesday afternoon at Dominican College as they led by six goals, 9-3, at halftime and expanded their advantage to as many as nine goals, 13-4, before a late Lady Charger rally closed the final margin to five. Herron finished the game with a goal, two assists, and eight draw controls. Lang earned the win (5-5) with three saves in the opening 46:08.
Recording a fifth straight win and a third with a goal total of 20 or more, the formidable Chestnut Hill College women’s lacrosse team triumphed over a fourth consecutive CACC opponent, Post University, with Saturday’s 22-8 league victory. The Griffins began the affair with a 12-0 streak and despite a running second-half clock advanced their advantage to 15-4 before a brief Eagle rebuttal was overshadowed by the Scarlet and Gold’s six-goal flurry to the final horn. Herron offered a command performance with a career-highs in goals (5) and draw controls (11). She also recorded an assist, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. Lang again collected win (6-5), this time making two saves in the first half.
