Koehler Makes Fifth Appearance on CACC Women’s Volleyball Weekly Report
New Haven, Conn. – (10/22/2016) – For the fifth time this season, Chestnut Hill College senior middle hitter Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.) was recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Weekly Report. This past week, contributing to the Griffins’ 2-1 week of league play against Holy Family University, Nyack College, and Dominican College, Koehler provided 26.5 points with 22 kills on a .327 (22K-6E-49TA) hitting percentage and seven total blocks.
Freshman outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Indianapolis, Ind.) continued to shine for Chestnut Hill College, but on Wednesday, October 19, night her effort was eclipsed by Holy Family University, who swept the 2016 CACC season series with a 3-1 (25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 25-23) win. Byxbee totaled 16 points, leading the Griffins with 14 kills and a pair of aces. Koehler supplied five kills and four block assists in the match.
She recorded nine kills on a .471 (9K-1E-17TA) hitting percentage to lead a balanced Griffin attack in a 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-18), victory over Nyack College on Friday, October 21, evening. Junior right side Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz.) and Byxbee each notched seven kills, with freshman middle hitter Chase Cooksey (Herndon, Va.) netting four kills of her own. Koehler, Byxbee, Gelfan, and Cooksey combined for 27 of the team’s 36 kills on the evening, while senior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) led the way defensively with 16 digs.
Building on their 3-0, Friday-night victory over Nyack College, the Chestnut Hill College women’s volleyball team departed from Dominican College on Saturday, October 22, evening with another CACC win in hand. The Griffins dispatched the Lady Chargers in three sets as well, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-17), thanks to another balanced effort. Senior outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) headlined the Scarlet and Gold offense with 10 kills while four Griffins finished with seven digs or more. Koehler totaled eight kills on a .462 (8K-2E-13TA) hitting percentage and made a dig.
The Chestnut Hill College women’s volleyball team returns to action on Friday, October 28, when they visit Georgian Court University for a 6:00 p.m. CACC match.
