Tumasz and Glenn Grab CACC Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (2/7/2017) – After splitting this last week’s competitions versus Washington Adventist University (W, 98-84 on February 1) and at Dominican College (L, 67-78 on February 4), Chestnut Hill College was rewarded with two players on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll as both junior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) and freshman forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) were recognized for their efforts against the Shock and Lady Chargers. Tumasz was a staunch defender while averaging 20.5 points-per-game (PPG) and 6.5 rebounds-per-game (RPG), meanwhile Glenn continued a brilliant freshman campaign with a strong showing against the Shock and a career night in the league loss at Dominican College.

Keyed by a career-high 24 points from Tumasz, Chestnut Hill College topped Washington Adventist University, 98-84, in non-conference action. Tumasz added seven rebounds and five steals to her career-best scoring performance, which led five other Griffins in double figures. Glenn was one of them with 17 points in excess of her two rebounds and two steals.

Following a competitive first quarter, 26-20, the second quarter saw the Griffins establish a lead which they would never relinquish. A Tumasz jumper at the 5:13 mark put the hosts up nine points, 35-26, and soon after the Scarlet and Gold advantage reached double digits, 37-26, on a pair of free throw from junior forward Nicole Parriski (Burlington, N.J.) at 4:46. By the time the clock reduced to 2:15 the Griffin lead ballooned to 18 points, 44-26, on a jumper from senior guard Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.). At halftime the difference held at 17 points, 52-35, and in the second half the Griffins led comfortably before fending off a late Shock rally in a 14-point, 98-84, victory.

Chestnut Hill College’s recent four-game winning streak came to a close on Saturday afternoon at Coach Baxter Court, where Dominican College claimed a 78-67 CACC win over the Griffins. With the contest even at halftime, 30-30, the Lady Chargers used a 27-20 third-quarter spread to separate for the eventual victory.

Glenn offered the game of her young collegiate career as the Griffins’ leading force; she scored a team-high 26 points that included five, three point baskets (5-of-8, .625) and additionally collected five rebounds and provided an assist. Her impressive performance included career-highs in field goals (9-of-17, .529) and three point (5-of-8, .625) baskets. In support, Tumasz offered 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
