Covella’s Run on CACC Weekly Release

Nicole Covella (Vineland, NJ) heroically led Chestnut Hill College to two overtime conference wins last week. She totaled 16 goals in two contests Covella to be recognized as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week. With 30 goals on the season, Covella currently ranks third in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II for goals-per-game (5.0).
Covella scored three tallies in the opening Chestnut Hill College (3-4, 2-2) charge against Holy Family University on Tuesday, March 22. She then tied the contest at the end of regulation and netted both of the Griffins overtime goals of defeat the Tigers, 15-13. She recorded nine goals in the contest in addition to providing two assists and five draw controls. In an encore performance, she struck seven times against Dominican College on Saturday, March 26. Covella contributed six goals to a triumphant 10-3 run as the Griffins stormed back from a 9-4 halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Chargers, 14-12, for their second CACC win of the week.
Covella leads the Griffins in goals (30), points (34), and shots (59) while hustling to 17 draws, and six ground balls. She is 10-for-18 (55.6%) on free position opportunities. Covella has appeared on each CACC Weekly Release this season. She was an honorable mention for the league’s Player of the Week award for the weeks ending March 6, March 13, and March 20.
The women’s lacrosse team resumes their CACC schedule on Thursday, March 31, when they travel to Philadelphia University of a 2:30 p.m. contest.
