Kohler Captures Second CACC Player of the Week Award, Gautier Garners another Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (3/27/2017) – Both contributing to two points in Chestnut Hill College’s 6-3 statement win over #32 the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) on Friday, March 24, sophomore Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) and freshman Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France) were respectively recognized on the league’s report as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week and an Honor Roll mention.

Executing in all three doubles flights, the Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team secured a 6-3 victory over the Bears – who also currently rank #1 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region – with a number one singles win by Kohler, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Chestnut Hill College (4-4) began their crusade with a perfect round of doubles. Kohler and senior Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) earned the Griffins’ first point at number two doubles, 8-4. The top team match was next to reach its conclusion. There, juniors Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) were victorious 8-6. Gautier and sophomore Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany) completed the sweep with their 8-6 win at number three doubles.

The Bears broke up the Scarlet and Gold shutout with the opening win of the singles round. It came in the second flight, where senior David Jiang (Auckland, New Zealand) defeated Bocaletto by a 6-1, 7-5, final. But the NYIT rally was quickly defeated as Andre closed on the number three singles point, 6-3, 6-1, just minutes before Kohler scored the exclamation point for Chestnut Hill College. The Scarlet and Gold’s sixth point was provided by Gautier, who won number five singles 6-2, 6-3.

Chestnut Hill College continues their non-conference schedule on Wednesday, March 29, when they visit La Salle University for a 2:00 p.m. match.
