First Place Finish Earns Fisher CACC Track and Field Athlete of the Week Award
West Chester, Pa. - (3/25/2017) – Among the many great performances at West Chester University’s Golden Ram Invitational on Saturday, March 25, a first place finish (4:13.51) in the men’s 1500-meter race by freshman Zigmund Fisher (Chadds Ford, Pa.) highlighted the Chestnut Hill College achievements. It also earned Fisher the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Athlete of the Week award.
The Griffin men offered three other top-10 finishes, including a 10th place (2:03.67) from sophomore Raevon Floyd-Bennett (Union City, N.J.) in the men’s 800-meter, a ninth place (17:04.27) performance from senior Eric Barton (Colora, Md.) in the men’s 5000, and a seventh place (3:36.66) effort in the men’s 4x400 relay.
Fisher was supported in the men’s 1500-meter by junior Adrian Calderon (Hacienda Heights, Calif.), who came in 19th (4:50.33). Meanwhile, Floyd-Bennett was complimented in the 800 by freshman Jake DiCello (Pottsville, Pa.) (16th, 2:05.81) and senior Samuel Mondello (Staten Island, N.Y.) (17th, 2:06.04).
The seventh place finish in the 4x400 relay was a combined effort by freshman Jonathan Boc (Jersey City, N.J.), Floyd-Bennett, freshman Hunter Angle (Doylesburg, Pa.), and junior Ediegeo Vanterpool II (Clementon, N.J.). Freshman Aaron Morris (Philadelphia, Pa.) (11th, 17:21.91) and freshman Alex Lynch (Manchester, N.J.) (13th, 18:13.24) were Barton’s accomplices in the 5000.
In the field events, school records were recorded in the Shot Put by sophomore Duncan Malone (Boston, Mass.) (16th, 10.51 meters) and the Javelin by sophomore Kyle Johnson-Hackett (Philadelphia, Pa.) (12th, 36.37 meters).
The Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s track and field teams compete again next weekend, March 31 through April 1, at Widener University’s Danny Curran Invitational.
