Hoffman and Mezzatesta Mentioned On CACC Weekly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. - (4/6/2017) – For their play in the recently completed Spring Charger Classic and ACE Club Quad, senior Anthony Hoffman (Philadelphia, Pa.) and freshman Taylor Mezzatesta (Forest Hill, Md.) were recognized on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Report.
A parting in the clouds on Saturday, April 1, allowed Chestnut Hill College to join CACC members; Felician University, Philadelphia University, and host, Dominican College, for a round at Mansion Ridge Golf Club. The Griffins finished fourth in the foursome at the Spring Charger Classic, completing the course with a combined 339 (+51) strokes. Mezzatesta was the Scarlet and Gold's top individual performer, tying for fourth place with his round of 79 (+7). He was four strokes better than his closest teammate. Hoffman shot an 83 (+11) to tie for 11th. Behind him, Chestnut Hill College offered senior Kevin O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, N.J.) (T20th, 86, +14) and freshman Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.) (23rd, 91, +19).
Hoffman and O’Donnell led Chestnut Hill College to a second place (324, +36) finish among their fellow CACC members; Concordia College (NY) (301, +23), host, Philadelphia University (326, +38), and Nyack College (330, +42) at Tuesday’s ACE Club Quad. Hoffman and O’Donnell respectively tied for ninth (78, +6) and 11th (79, +7) in the final individual standings. Freshmen, Mezzatesta and Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.) completed the Scarlet and Gold foursome; they finished back-to-back too as the former placed 15th with an 82 (+10) and the latter 16th with an 85 (+13).
Chestnut Hill College competes next on Sunday, April 9, when they travel to the Rum Point Gulf Club in Ocean City, Maryland, for the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spring Invitational.
