New Haven, Conn. – (4/11/2017) – Finding their stride in a trio of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) wins over Wilmington University (W, 22-6 on April 4), Caldwell University (W, 17-7 on April 6), and Post University (W, 25-5 on April 8), Chestnut Hill College placed three student-athletes on this week’s league report. In those contests, senior goalkeeper Katie Joe Lang (Manassas, Va.) totaled 17 saves and six ground balls to earn her second CACC Defensive Player of the Week award. Chestnut Hill College wasted little time establishing their superiority over Wilmington University in Tuesday afternoon's CACC contest as a 5-0 opening run, grew to a 14-5 halftime advantage, and an eventual 22-6 triumph over the Wildcats. Plenty of Griffins got in the mix, but junior attack Julia Galantich (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) lead the team with six points (five goals and one assist), three ground balls, and a draw control. Senior attack Lea Sanders (North Merrick, N.Y.) registered two goals, her second – with 13:06 remaining in the second half – established her as the eighth member of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Lacrosse 100 Career Goals Club. Seven Griffins finished with two points or more in the affair; Fitzgerald and Herron were in that group, respectively recording five points (4 goals and 1 assists) and four points (4 assists). Lang recorded six saves and corralled a ground ball. Herron also recorded a dozen (12) draws while Fitzgerald additionally provided a ground ball and a draw control.

Highlighted by a four-goal and four-ground ball effort Sanders, Chestnut Hill College earned a decisive 17-7 victory over Caldwell University on Thursday evening. Lang collected seven saves and five ground balls in the victory as the Griffins held a 44-15 edge in shots, a 25-14 advantage in ground balls, and an 18-7 margin in draw controls. In support of Sanders, Herron totaled four assists, two ground balls, and seven draws, while Fitzgerald added a ground ball and a draw to her two tallies.

The week of CACC play concluded with Saturday’s 25-5 CACC win over Post University. Following a pre-game ceremony to honor the six seniors from this year’s team; Herron and Lang included, Chestnut Hill College (5-7, 5-1 CACC) wasted no time to secure a lead, scoring the first eight goals of the game to open and 8-0 lead. The Eagles trimmed the margin to 8-2 with 13:59 remaining in the first half, but the Scarlet and Gold answered, scoring seven of the final eight first-half goal to command 15-3 halftime edge and an eventual 20-goal, 25-5, victory.
