Philadelphia, PA – (3/29/2010) – Freshman attack Mark Winkelspecht (Laurys Station, PA) totaled seven goals and an assist this week to raise his team-leading point total to 23. He was recognized for his effort by the East Coast Conference (ECC) as the league’s Co-Rookie of the Week. He shared the award with freshman attack Brian Scheetz (Canadaigua, NY) of Mercyhurst College.
Winkelspecht opened this week with two goals and an assist in the Griffins’ 12-7 loss at Immaculata University on Thursday, March 24. He followed that performance with five goals in a home loss to Wheeling Jesuit University on Saturday, March 27. In the conference contest against the Cardinals, Winkelspecht helped the Griffins to an early 2-0 advantage before Wheeling Jesuit University recovered for a 14-7 win. Winkelspecht grabbed three ground balls and caused a turnover in addition to his five scores against the Cardinals.
Winkelspecht totaled seven goals on 18 shots this week while also contributing an assist, six ground balls and two caused turnovers. He is currently leading Chestnut Hill College (3-5, 0-4) in goals (16), assists (7), points (23), shots (75), and man-up goals (2).
The men’s lacrosse team continues their ECC schedule with a trip to Lake Erie College on Thursday, April 1. Opening face-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
