Alexander Earns Weekly CACC
Honorable Mention for Women’s Lacrosse

New Haven, CT – (4/12/2011) – Sophomore midfielder Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, PA) had a hand in ten goals against Post University on Saturday, April 9; scoring four and assisting on six, while also recording five ground balls, 15 draws, and three caused turnovers in a career performance. For her effort, she was recognized with an honorable mention for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award.

This week she totaled five goals, six assists, seven ground balls, 17 draws, and three caused turnovers. Alexander got Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 3-4) rolling against the Eagles, finding sophomore attack Christina Squillante (Kings Park, NY) for the game’s first goal just 42 seconds (29:18) after the opening draw, 1-0. Eight minutes later (21:13), Post University (1-9, 0-7) got on the scoreboard but by that time the Griffins led 4-1. The high-paced scoring continued to halftime with Eagles narrowing the margin to two, 8-6 (13:14), before the Griffins hit another gear with a 10-3 run, 18-9. Alexander totaled six points by intermission, recording three goals and three assists. With another Griffin goal, running clock began just 27 seconds into the second half (29:33); and after 5-2 run the margin reached 12, 23-11, midway through the closing period (15:29). When the dust settled on a Victory Field #1, the Griffins remained on top with a 27-15 victory. Alexander also scored a goal, grabbed two ground balls, and two draws in the loss at Dominican College on Thursday, April 7.

In her first full season of participation, Alexander’s athleticism has helped her become an integral part of the roster. She has totaled 12 goals so far this season, while leading the Griffins in assists (10), ground balls (38), draws (40), and caused turnovers (25).

The women’s lacrosse team continues their CACC schedule with a 3:00 p.m. contest at Wilmington University on Wednesday, April 13.
