Covic Collects Third Consecutive Appearance on CACC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. - (10/3/2017) – On Saturday, September 30, Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and the Chestnut Hill College women’s tennis team tasted victory for the first time since May 9, 2015 (5-2 over Adelphi University, NCAA DII Championship East Region), as the Griffins claimed a 9-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win over Caldwell University in this afternoon’s match. Covic earned wins at both number one doubles and number one singles to contribute to the achievement and earn her third straight appearance on the CACC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll.
Caldwell University (2-5, 0-4) surrendered the bottom doubles flight and the last two singles matches by default in addition to Griffin victories in the remaining flights. Chestnut Hill College (1-2, 1-2) won number two doubles and number three doubles, 8-2, on the respective efforts of sophomore Nicola Guzowska (Poznan, Poland) and junior Daniela Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and sophomores Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) and Covic. Cougar defaults at number five and number six singles pushed the Griffins over the top, 5-0. The following individual victories from Siqueira (8-0 @ #4), Broville (8-1 @ #2), Guzowska (8-1 @ #3), and Covic (8-4 @ #1) only extended the Chestnut Hill College advantage to a 9-0 final.
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team continues their CACC schedule on Tuesday, October 3, with a 3:30 p.m. match versus Goldey-Beacom College.
