Reno Registers Third October CACC Defensive Player of the Week, Byxbee Boasts Third Honor Roll Recognition
 
New Haven, Conn. – (10/24/2017) – Leading Chestnut Hill College to a pair of 3-0 league wins over the University of the Sciences (USciences) (25-18, 25-16, 25-22, on October 17) and Dominican College (25-7, 25-14, 25-9, on October 21), senior libero Peyton Reno (Wilmington, Del.) and sophomore outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) both earned recognition on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Weekly Report. Reno earned her third CACC Defensive Player of the Week honor in the month of October, while Byxbee enjoyed her third straight Weekly Honor Roll selection.
 
Chestnut Hill College (8-17, 7-6) ran a clean 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-22) sweep against USciences during Tuesday evening’s Go4theGoal event. Sophomore middle hitter Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) was the centerpiece for the Griffins' offensive strategy with 11 kills on a .333 (11K-4E-21TA) hitting percentage. While, Reno captained the Scarlet and Gold defensive effort with 17 digs. In addition to her 11 kills, Callahan added one assist and two blocks for a team-high 12.0 points. Freshman outside hitter Corrine Kalala (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Byxbee both recorded nine kills on a the 28-assist effort of junior setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) – who also recorded 10 digs. Kalala added an assist, a dig, and three block assists to her strikes, while Byxbee offered an assist, nine digs, and one block assist in excess of her successful attacks. Reno added five assists and two aces to her 17-dig match.
 
On Saturday evening, Chestnut Hill College extended their recent CACC winning streak to four games with a decisive 3-0 (25-7, 25-14, 25-9) victory over Dominican College. Byxbee headlined the efficient performance with 12 kills on a .550 (12K-1E-20TA) hitting percentage, while sophomore defensive specialist Kara Turtzer (La Habra Heights, Calif.) spotted four aces, and freshman right side Mykayla Milchling (Baltimore, Md.) assisted on four blocks. In addition to her 12 kills, Byxbee also recorded three aces and six digs for Chestnut Hill College. She finished the week with a .360 (21K-3E-50) hitting percentage. Reno recorded 22 digs, bringing her two-match total to 50.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team continues their CACC schedule on Wednesday, October 25, when they visit Goldey-Beacom College for a 7:00 p.m. match.
