Scimone Draws ECC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition With Results from Griffin Invitational

West Babylon, N.Y. - (11/2/2017) – Freshman Kristina Scimone (Gibbsboro, N.J.) led Chestnut Hill College to a 3-2 finish and a 5,690 pin-total at their own Griffin Invitational on Saturday, October 28, with a 184.5 pin average and a third place finish in the individual results. For her effort, Scimone was recognized on the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll. She is the first Griffin ever to earn mention on the league’s weekly report as the Griffins officially joined the ECC as an associate member for women’s bowling on October 20.

Chestnut Hill College (4-10) welcomed Kutztown University, St. Peter’s University, and LIU-Post to Devon Lanes for the second Griffin Invitational. The Griffins opened the tournament with an 878-709 win versus LIU Post, led by junior Kara Wireman (Telford, Pa.) with a 236 game and sophomore Rebeccah Edelman (Oakford, Pa.) with a 204 game. The Scarlet and Gold got their next victory against St. Peter's University, who the defeated in their second game, 860-764. Scimone offered a 202 game opposite the Peacocks.

Chestnut Hill College dropped their next game in a close call against Kutztown 798-793. They were again led by Scimone’s 194 and freshman Lauren Klein (Horsham, Pa.), who offered a 182. But it was not enough to defeat the Bears, who eventually titled in the event.

After three games, the Griffins were leading the event in total pins and paired in a two-game bracket with LIU Post. But the Pioneers pulled off the win 1764-1595. Chestnut Hill College won their final match with St. Peter’s University by 19 pins, 1564-1545, to finish 3-2 in the event and improve to 4-10 on the year.

The Chestnut Hill College women’s bowling team will be back in action this Friday, November 4, when they visit 30 Strikes Lanes in Stratford, New Jersey, for the Fairleigh Dickinson University Jersey Jamboree.
