Del Vecchio Dons ECC Women’s Bowling Weekly Report as Co-Rookie of the Week
 
West Babylon, N.Y. - (11/8/2017) – Freshman Christina Del Vecchio (Warrington, Pa.) offered a high game of 224 in a 969-920 second-day loss to Kutztown University and finished the Fairleigh Dickinson University New Jersey Jamboree as the tournament’s ninth-ranked scorer with 196.8 pin average to be named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Bowling Co-Rookie of the Week.
 
During the first day of competition at the Fairleigh Dickinson University New Jersey Jamboree today, Chestnut Hill College (8-18) went 1-4 in five game Baker matches. The team was led by sophomore Rebeccah Edelman (Oakford, Pa.) who led the team in filled frame percentage at 90% and by Del Vecchio who was 100% on single-pin spares. The Griffins opened with a tough loss against Wilmington University 774-767. The Griffins lost their second game to #15 Adelphi University by an 855-794 final. In the third game, Felician University knocked off the Griffins in another close game, 851-834. In each set of Bakers, the Griffins continued to improve their total pins. In the fourth match, Chestnut Hill was paired against #8 Fairleigh Dickinson University. The Griffins had two of their highest Baker games of 212 and 201 against the Knights, but the hosts defeated the Griffins 899-892 in a seven-pin loss. The Griffins got their win in the last game versus Bethune Cookman University, there the team ended with an 875 set to the 672 set of the Wildcats.
 
Chestnut Hill College opened day two with #16 LIU Brooklyn. The Griffins suffered a close 920-884 loss. Del Vecchio led the way with a 216 game followed by a 185 game from freshman Kristina Scimone (Gibbsboro, N.J.). In game two, the Scarlet and Gold defeated Caldwell University by a score of 887-858. The third game had the team versus the bye, but the fourth game pinned them against #13 Monmouth College, who defeated them by an 899-878 final. Edelman shot a 205 and Del Vecchio had a 197. In the last game, the Griffins lost to Kutztown University, 969-920. They were led by Del Vecchio once again, who had a 224 game and Edelman who had a 189 game.

Chestnut Hill College finished day three with a 2-1 record to move up two spots in standings. After two days of the Fairleigh Dickinson University New Jersey Jamboree, the Griffins were placed 12th. On day thee, position round, they opened with Morgan State University. Chestnut Hill College won the best-of-seven baker match 4-0. They won 178-174, 201-164, 211-170, and 158-133.
 
Moving up in the standings now had the team paired against St. Francis Brooklyn. This best-of-seven match had took seven games to decide a winner. In Bakers each team bowls a game on one lane of a pair and then switches to the other pair. In this match, the left lane was the higher scoring lane. The team that bowled on the left lane won each of the first 6 games. Edelman threw three strikes in the 10th frame to give the six win forcing game seven. Being the higher seed, the Terriers got to decide to bowl on the left lane in game seven. Chestnut Hill College pulled out an impressive 206 game on the lane they were averaging 150 on for the first three games and the win. In this series, Scimone was a perfect 14-14 on frames filled.

In the last game, the Griffins lost to Felician University. The Golden Falcons won 203-148, 191-171, 188-161, and 232-176. The loss had the finish the tournament in 10th place. Day three had the Griffins average 12 pins higher in Bakers than they did on day one. The 2-1 record today had the Griffins finish the event 4-8 on the weekend.
