Talford Earns CACC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (11/20/2017) – Junior guard Cartier Talford (Reading, Pa.) averaged 26.5 points and 7.5 rebounds-per-game in Chestnut Hill College’s 1-2 week of play against West Chester University (L, 45-71 on 11/15), Mercy College (W, 115-109 2OT on 11/18), and Roberts Wesleyan College (L, 68-80 on 11/19) to earn a Honor Roll mention on the recently released Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Basketball Weekly Report. Talford was one of five Griffins in double figures in the marathon match against the Mavericks, pairing 25 points with 11 rebounds in his first Scarlet and Gold double-double, before scoring a team-high 28 points in the loss to the Redhawks.

After missing the affair at West Chester University, Talford showed up big in the contests at Roberts Wesleyan College’s Redhawks Alumni Classic. In the first game of the weekend, Talford hit 9-of-19 (.474) from the field while totaling 11 rebounds, five assists, a block, and two steals. He hit 4-of-8 (.500) from long range and added a 3-of-6 (.500) performance at the free throw line to join junior guard Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.) (28 points), senior guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) (25), freshman guard Rich Dean Jr. (Bensalem, Pa.) (18), and junior forward Tony Toplyn Jr. (Sickerville, N.J.) (15) in double figures.

Talford headlined the Griffins’ effort versus host, Roberts Wesleyan College, keeping the contest competitive with 18 second-half points. He hit 11-of-21 (.524) from the field, 5-of-8 (.625) from long range, and 1-of-2 (.500) from the free throw line in his team-high, 28-point performance. Talford added four rebounds, a block, and four steals to the effort.

Chestnut College continues their early non-conference schedule on Wednesday, November 22, when they visit East Stroudsburg University for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
