Wildgoose Averages Double-Double En Route to CACC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (12/11/2017) – Junior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) averaged a double-double of 14.7 points-per-game (PPG) and 10.7 rebounds-per-game (RPG) in last week’s contests versus Jefferson University, the University of the Sciences (USciences), and The Lincoln University to earn recognition on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll. Wildgoose double-doubles were the underlying reason for the Griffins’ success in an 81-71 overtime loss to Jefferson University and the Scarlet and Gold’s 72-65 triumph over #19 USciences; her fifth double-double of the season provided 18 points and 17 rebounds in the marathon battle with the Lady Rams, before her sixth offered 13 points and 10 rebounds to the victory over the nationally-ranked Devils.

Tuesday night’s CACC Military Appreciation Game at Jefferson University (8-1, 2-0) began with a court-sized flag unfurling, before a clutch layup from junior guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.), a saving free throw from freshman guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.), and an unfortunate one-sided overtime that pushed the final score in the home team's favor, 81-71. Chestnut Hill College (5-5, 2-1) led the Lady Rams at the first quarter, 19-14, and halftime, 31-27, breaks, but ties at the end of the third quarter, 50-50, and regulation, 67-67, forced an extra frame. There, the home team held the Griffins to a layup and a couple of fleeting free throws in an eventual 10-point discrepancy. All the while, Wildgoose did the dirty work to keep the Griffins in contention. She was 9-of-14 (.643) from the floor and additional provided two assists, four blocks, and a steal.

Chestnut Hill College's 48-28 rebounding edge more than made up for a 26-11 turnover deficit as the Scarlet and Gold earned their second CACC win of the season with a 72-65 triumph over USciences on Saturday, December 9. Sophomore forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Wildgoose both finished with double-doubles; the former was the highest of three Griffins in double figures pairing her season-high 20 points with 11 rebounds while the latter contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds in her sixth double-double of the season. Wildgoose was 3-of-7 (.429) from the floor and hit all seven of her free throws (7-of-7, 1.000) while also recording three assists and a pair of blocks.

Just a day removed from knocking off the Devils, on Sunday, December 10, Chestnut Hill College found themselves frustrated by The Lincoln University defense which held the Griffins to a 31.1% (23-of-74) shooting effort and forced 19 Scarlet and Gold turnovers in an 88-58 final. Despite the difficulty, Wildgoose led three Griffins in double figures with 13 points. She also totaled five rebounds, an assist, and a block.

The Chestnut Hill College women's basketball team returns to Sorgenti Arena on Tuesday, December 12, to host Mercy College in a 6:00 p.m. contest.
