Isaac Earns Second Straight CACC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll Mention
New Haven, Conn. - (1/8/2018) – For the second straight week, senior guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) was recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll. Isaac scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half to lead Chestnut Hill College’s rally versus Wilmington University on Wednesday, January 3; he shot 9-of-12 (.750) from the floor and 6-of-6 (1.000) from the free throw line in the process grabbing seven rebounds, handing out four assists, and making a steal in an eventual 67-65 loss to the Wildcats.
Wilmington University (8-6, 3-2) sophomore guard Jermaine Head (Edgewood, Md.) was the story of the first half, hitting five three point (5-of-6, .833) baskets in a 9-of-11 (.818) shooting performance that totaled him 23 points by intermission and earned the Wildcats a 47-29 halftime advantage over Chestnut Hill College (1-12, 0-6). Isaac willed the Griffins back into the affair, cutting the Wildcat lead to single digits, 48-39 (12:25), by scoring eight points in a 10-1 Chestnut Hill College run. Five minutes later (7:34), junior guard Cartier Talford (Reading, Pa.) hit the layup that brought the Griffins within two points, 52-50, but the Scarlet and Gold did not catch Wilmington University until Isaac found junior guard Dexter Thompson (Providence, R.I.) for a thunderous dunk, 60-60, just before the three-minute mark (3:02). An Isaac layup (62-60, 2:42) and a junior forward Roman Letterlough (Harrisburg, Pa.) free throw (63-60, 1:59) put Chestnut Hill College in good position heading to the final minutes. But, a clutch three and a timely flick found the Wildcats a way out of overtime, 67-65.
The Chestnut Hill College men’s basketball continues their CACC schedule on Wednesday, January 10, when they visit Post University for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
