Isaac Earns Third Consecutive CACC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
New Haven, Conn. - (1/16/2018) – For a third consecutive week, Chestnut Hill College senior guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned recognition on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Basketball Honor Roll. Isaac averaged 19.0 points-per-game (PPG) and 5.0 rebounds-per-game (RPG), while totaling five assists and four steals in league losses to Post University, 81-63 on Wednesday, January 10, and most recently in overtime to Nyack College, 81-79, on Saturday, January 13.
A three-man attack of Isaac, senior center Chris Evans (Norristown, pa.), and junior guard Cartier Talford (Reading, Pa.) combined for 44 points, but it was not enough to overcome Post University (4-11, 3-4). Chestnut Hill College (1-14, 0-8) held a 38-36 halftime advantage thanks to 10-point first halves from Isaac and Evans, but needed Talford to score eight of his 13 points in the second half to stay competitive until the final five minutes of the affair. Isaac finished with a team-high 16 points for Chestnut Hill College. He also recorded seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
For the second time in their last three contests, Chestnut Hill College engaged in overtime play as Nyack College stole an 81-79 CACC win from the Griffins thanks to the clutch play of senior guard Imran Ritchie (Uniondale, N.Y.). The Warrior point scored a game-high 23 points, including eight of Nyack College’s 12 overtime points to earn the visitors the victory. Chestnut Hill College controlled the first half behind Isaac, who finished with 22 points in excess of three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Isaac was 9-of-15 (.600) from the floor and 4-of-4 (1.000) at the free throw line in the process.
The Chestnut Hill College men’s basketball team returns to Sorgenti Arena on Tuesday, January 16, when they host Dominican College in a 7:00 p.m. CACC contest.
