Wilden and Pedrick Garner Weekly Rookie and Defensive Awards from CACC
New Haven, Conn. - (2/26/2018) – Sophomore attack Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) and senior goalkeeper Matthew Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) respectively garnered the first-ever Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with their performances in this week’s season opener versus #2 Le Moyne College. Senior midfielder Joshua Pope (Schnecksville, Pa.), joined them on the report, earning an Honor Roll mention with his team-high two points (1 goal, 1 assist).
Chestnut Hill College (0-1) welcomed Le Moyne College to the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium for Saturday’s season opener. Unfortunately, the Dolphins exceled in the wet weather, defeating the Griffins by a 19-4 spread. Pope scored the Scarlet and Gold’s first goal (3-1) of the contest, and season, with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter and located senior attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) for his fourth-quarter goal (17-3, 11:55). He also added five ground balls. Wilden provided the fourth Griffin goal (18-4) a little more than three minutes later (8:26). Pedrick (0-1) made a dozen (12) saves and recovered four ground balls over three quarters of play (45:00).
The Chestnut Hill College men’s Lacrosse team continues their schedule on Saturday, March 3, when they visit Mercy College for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
