LaRosa Named CACC Rookie Of the Month for March
New Haven, Conn. - (4/4/2018) – Freshman Jack LaRosa (Bristol, Pa.) was one of two Griffins to shoot an 80 (+8) in Chestnut Hill College’s recent third place finish (3rd of 4, 322, +34) at Jefferson’s ACE Club Quad. For his effort, LaRosa was recognized as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Rookie of the Month for March. He was a two-time CACC Golf Weekly Honor Roll mention during the fall championship season, earning recognition on September 13 and October 11.
Chestnut Hill College began their spring schedule where they left off last fall, at the ACE Club for a round with host, Jefferson, Wilmington University, and Goucher College. Sophomore Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.) matched LaRosa’s 80 to help lead the Griffins to their third place finish. Wilmington University senior Zac Moore (Brantford, Ontario) and freshman Sergio Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) directed the Wildcats to the win (297, +9) with low-rounds of 73 (+1). Freshmen Jake Kehoe (Powell, Ohio) and Tyler Marchese (Dunmore, Pa.) were just a stroke behind LaRosa and Mayer with their rounds of 81 (+9). Sophomore Taylor Mezzatesta (Forest Hill, Md.) was the fifth Griffin in the competition, completing the course in 84 (+12) strokes.
The Chestnut Hill College golf team competes next weekend, on Saturday, April 7, and Sunday, April 8, when they visit Rum Pointe Golf Course in Berlin, Maryland, for the St. Thomas Aquinas College Invitational.
