Broville Boasts CACC Monthly Honor Roll Appearance
New Haven, Conn. - (5/7/2018) – A pair of singles wins versus Gwynedd-Mercy University and West Chester University garnered sophomore Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honor Roll recognition on the April Report. Broville earned Chestnut Hill College a point versus both the Griffins and the Golden Rams with her respective 6-2, 6-4, and 6-4, 7-5, wins at number two singles.
Losing only number one doubles and number six singles, the 2017-2018 Chestnut Hill College (4-9) women’s tennis home schedule came to a triumphant close on Sunday, April 8, with a 7-2 win over their rival Griffins from Gwynedd Mercy University (7-3). The Scarlet and Gold bookended the Griffins’ number one doubles win (8-2) with victories at number three (8-4) and number two doubles (8-5), but allowed the visitors to tie the match with a 6-0, 6-1, number six singles win before clinching it, 5-1, with successive individual wins at number five (6-1, 6-4), number four (6-1, 6-2), and number three (6-1, 6-1). Broville’s 6-2, 6-4, triumph at number two singles concluded the affair.
The final dual match of the season for the Chestnut Hill College tennis teams brought the Griffins to West Chester University (6-8) on Tuesday, April 10. The Scarlet and Gold endured a 7-2 loss on the women's side, where Broville and fellow sophomore, Nicola Guzowska (Poznan, Poland) respectively concluded the match with the only Griffins points at number two (6-4, 7-5) and number three (7-6, 6-0) singles. However, Chestnut Hill College did split the twin bill as the men only lost number one singles (6-0, 6-2) in an 8-1 triumph.
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team concludes their 2017-2018 season on Tuesday, April 17, when they visit East Stroudsburg University for a 3:30 p.m. match.
