Fisher and Neals Run to CACC Cross Country Honor Roll Mentions
New Haven, Conn. – (9/4/2018) – Leading their respective teams to a seventh place (7th of 14, 207 points) and 11th (11th of 18, 260 points) at the Adelphi Panther Invitational, junior Zigmund Fisher (Chadds Ford, Pa.) and sophomore Taylor Neals (Bensalem, Pa.) both earned recognition on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Cross Country Honor Roll. Fisher finished 17th (27:13.7) in the men's eight-kilometer (8K) run, while Neals ran 20th (20:12.7) in the women's five-kilometer (5K).
The Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Bethpage, New York, on Friday, August 31, to open their 2018 season at the Adelphi Panther Invitational. Fisher headlined the six scoring Griffins who competed in the 8K run. Junior Jake DiCello (Pottsville, Pa.) was within arms-length of Fisher, posting a time of 27:51.9 that secured a 20th place spot overall. Meanwhile, Neals headlined the four Griffins who competed in the women's 5K run. Not far behind her was senior Erica Waleski (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), who followed with a 35th place (21:18.4) finish that beat her season-best time (22:35.3) from last year. Sophomore Irene Canizares-Llull (Islas Baleares, Spain) provided a 75th place (23:30.5) finish, while freshman Brittany Kahhan (Philadelphia, Pa.) broke the top-100 in her collegiate debut with a 25:47.8 (100th).
