Covic Collects Second CACC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
New Haven, Conn. - (9/24/2018) – A singles win from junior Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and a shared doubles win with fellow junior Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) accounted for two of the Griffins three victories in a 5-2 loss at Post University on Saturday, September 22. The performance earned Covic her second straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll mention.
After a 6-0 Post University (3-2, 1-0) win at number three doubles, Chestnut Hill College (0-1, 0-1) evened the score thanks to a 6-1 number two doubles win from Covic and Broville. Unfortunately, the deciding team point fell in the home team’s favor as senior Julia Bellon (Indaiatuba, Brazil) and Siqueira eventually lost the fight at number two doubles, 7-6 (3).
The Griffins aimed to recover in singles play, but the Eagles added points at number three singles, 6-2, 6-0, and number five singles, 6-0, 6-1, to lead 3-0 before Chestnut Hull College got on the scoreboard. Covic captured the first Scarlet and Gold point with her 6-0, 6-0, dominance at number one singles. Unfortunately, the Eagles took number six singles, 1-6, 6-1, 10-4, and number two singles, 6-3, 6-4, leaving a 6-4, 6-2 number four singles win from in senior Daniela Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) inconsequential.
Chestnut Hill College returns to action Wednesday, September 26, when they visit Jefferson for a 3:30 p.m. CACC match.
