Peshkin Named CACC Goalkeeper of the Week, Jimenez Joins With Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. – (10/22/2018) – Junior goalkeeper Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J.) offered her second double digit save performance of the season earn a shutout victory in Chestnut Hill College’s 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Felician University on Saturday, October 20. The effort earned her the CACC Goalkeeper of the Week Award. Meanwhile, freshman forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) scored the first of the two Griffins goals in the Peshkin victory to earn a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Goals from Jimenez and senior midfielder Marikate O'Toole (Philadelphia, Pa.) paced Chestnut Hill College (3-11-1, 2-9-1) in Saturday's 2-0 victory over CACC rival, Felician College (3-10, 3-8). The Griffins put the pressure on the Golden Falcons in the first half, logging a 13-9 shot advantage. O'Toole, freshman midfielder Madison Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.), senior defender Brianna Ferrell (Newtown Square, Pa.), and junior defender Elizabeth McCormick (Philadelphia, Pa.) all attacked the Golden Falcon net opening period, but it was a serve from Taylor to Jimenez that found its way into the back of the net at 42:59, 1-0. The late goal solidified the Scarlet and Gold's advantage going into the second half. There, Felician College tried to slow down Chestnut Hill College's assaults, but the Griffins added a second tally when a serve from junior defender Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.) landed in front of the net for an O’Toole tap-in at 72:40, 2-0. The Golden Falcons offered a fleeting attempt at 78:13, but the field empty handed as Peshkin preserved the shut out with her 11th of 12 saves.

Earlier in the week (October 17), Chestnut Hill College issued the first shot of a CACC contest at Jefferson (6-7-1, 6-4-1), but the Lady Rams used a 38-3 shot advantage to overpower the Griffins in a 5-0 end. O’Toole took the Scarlet and Gold’s first shot, while respective second half shots came from sophomore forward Gabby Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) and Jimenez. Sophomore goalkeeper Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded her fourth game of double digit saves, making a dozen (12) saves in the loss (0-7-1).
