Byxbee Returns to CACC Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. – (10/22/2018) – Junior outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) earned her third Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll appearance with a team-high 25 points in a 1-1 week that included an October 17, league victory over Goldey-Beacom College. She recorded 17 of those point as kills in the win over the Lighting and added two aces for a 19-point performance. Later in the week, on Saturday, October 20, she offered six kills in a loss at Georgian Court University.

Chestnut Hill College (8-16, 5-9) continued their recent winning streak with Wednesday’s 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 22-25, 25-16) win over Goldey-Beacom College. The Scarlet and Gold took the first two sets with ease, but the Lightning interrupted their clean sweep attempt in the third period. Byxbee paced the Griffins with 17 (17K-4E-37TA, .351 HT%) kills; she added 18 digs for her ninth double-double of the season, while also providing two aces and four assists in the affair. In opening set, Goldey-Beacom College (4-19, 2-12) posted a 4-0 advantage before Chestnut Hill College went on an 8-1 run that changed the dynamic of the match, 8-5. From there, the Griffins extended their advantage until reaching 25-17 destination. The Scarlet and Gold brought the same energy into the second period as they maintained a comfortable advantage until a 25-21 end. But the Griffins had difficulty securing the potential sweep as they led 16-11 before a seven-point Lightning stretch gave the visitors the edge in an eventual 25-22 final. The Scarlet and Gold approached the fourth set with a vengeance, opening with a 4-0 advantage and feeding off of their momentum for a 25-16 match-clincher.

Chestnut Hill College closed another CACC South Division series on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Georgian Court University. There, the Lions welcomed the Griffins with a 25-10 setback before claiming the league win in just three sets, 3-0 (25-10, 25-23, 25-14). Sophomore middle hitter Ragen Baldwin (Lancaster, Pa.) was the Scarlet and Gold’s top hitter with seven kills on a team-best .286 (7K-3E-14TA) hitting percentage. Senior setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) was a major contributor as well with two kills, 17 assists, four digs, and a pair of block assists. Byxbee recorded six kills (6K-4E-28TA, .071 HT%), two assists, and five digs.
