Sutton Scores CACC Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll Mention
New Haven, Conn. – (10/29/2018) – Chestnut Hill College senior setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) earned her second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll recognition of the season, today, Monday, October 29. The Scarlet and Gold pivot offered 15 points (9 kills, 6 aces) in addition to 57 assists and 10 digs to help Chestnut Hill College to a 1-2 week versus CACC rivals, Jefferson (L, 3-0; 25-17, 25-19, 25-11), Concordia College (NY) (W, 3-0; 25-12, 25-19, 25-20), and Holy Family University (L, 3-0; 25-16, 25-18, 25-17).
Chestnut Hill College (9-18, 6-11) concluded their CACC series with South Division rival Jefferson (21-8, 14-2) on Tuesday (October 23) evening as the Lady Rams left Sorgenti Arena with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-11) victory. Freshman right side Lauren Lipinski (Gilbert, Ariz.) served as the Scarlet and Gold's top performer with a team-high 10 points on nine kills and an ace; she also matched junior middle hitter Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior libero Janie Green (Hayes, Va.) for the team lead in digs with nine. Sutton contributed 19 assists, two aces, and three digs in the loss.
Chestnut Hill College made short work of Concordia College (NY) (1-19, 1-15) in Thursday (October 25) evening's CACC competition as Sutton and junior outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) led the Griffins to a three set, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-20) victory over the Clippers. Sutton totaled nine points (5 kills, 4 aces) and supplied 24 assists to facilitate a .238 (38K-14E-101TA) team hitting percentage and help Byxbee to a team-high 12 points (9 kills, 3 aces). Sutton added a dig to her five kills and team-high four aces.
On Saturday, October 27, Holy Family University served as the CACC opponent for Senior Day as the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics and Recreation honored Sutton’s collegiate career prior to play. Following the ceremony the Tigers took control of the match, first pacing the Griffins in a 25-16 end before later executing a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17) with succeeding wins of 25-18 and 25-17. Sutton offered four kills, 14 assists, and six digs, Callahan and sophomore middle hitter Ragen Baldwin (Lancaster, Pa.) to seven (7K-2E-23TA, .217) and five (5K-1E-9TA, .444) kills, respectively.
