Edelman Earns Second ECC Weekly Honor Roll Accolade
West Babylon, N.Y. - (1/23/2018) – Finishing last weekend’s Kutztown University Invitational 31st in the individual standings with a 198.6 average and leading Chestnut Hill College to a 25th place finish (25th of 28, 3W-10L, 4,453-4,583; 12,383 pins), senior Rebeccah Edelman (Oakford, Pa.) earned her second East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll recognition of the season. Her high game came in the third match of Saturday’s traditional play, where she rolled a 223 in a 1,039-922 loss to #10 Stephen F. Austin.
On Friday, January 18, Chestnut Hill College (26-22) met an elite field of competition at Limerick Bowl as the field for the Kutztown University Invitational included 20 of the top-25 teams in the nation. Nonetheless, the Griffins put their best foot forward, defeating Howard University by a 1014-821 measure to finish the first day of competition 27th of 28 teams with 4,453 pins. Edelman and sophomore Christina Del Vecchio (Warrington, Pa.) led the Griffins with plus-80% frames filled.
The Scarlet and Gold started off the second day with a 935-908 victory over #12 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and improved to 23rd (23rd of 28, 9,036 pins) in the standings thanks to the continued strong play of Edelman and Del Vecchio. The duo respectively offered scores of 208 and 220 in the Griffins’ impressive victory over the Warhawks. Later, Edelman and sophomore Lauren Klein (Horsham, Pa.) both rolled 223 games in Chestnut Hill College’s third match, but it was not enough to defeat #10 Stephen F. Austin University in a 1,039-922 final.
With a 1-2 showing in Sunday’s bracket play, Chestnut Hill College finished the Kutztown University Invitational with a 3-10 record. The Griffins grabbed a victory in their last match of the invitational, topping Howard University for a second time, 4-1. Edelman and sophomore Kristina Scimone (Gibbsboro, N.J.) each filled seven-of-eight frames to lead the Griffins.
