Pitchley Appears On CACC Men’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. – (2/11/2019) – After a three month layoff, freshman Tom Pitchley (London, England) returned to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Releases, as his play versus the University of Delaware garnered him the league’s Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week honor. Pitchley scored a 6-1, 7-5, number one singles victory in the Griffins’ recent 5-2 loss to the Blue Hens and also competed – alongside junior Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) to a 6-4 end in the top team flight.
Chestnut Hill College (3-1) recorded the first victory of last Sunday’s (February 3) spring opener at the University of Delaware at number two doubles, 6-1, but the Blue Hens triumphed in the match, 5-2, with wins at number three doubles (6-3), number one doubles (6-4), number three singles (6-2, 6-2), number two singles (6-1, 6-4), number five singles (6-3, 7-6 (5)), and number four singles (6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-4). Pitchley and junior Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) were responsible for the Scarlet and Gold points; the former played to an impressive 6-1, 7-5, victory at number one singles, while Gavin triumphed at sixth singles, 6-4, 6-2.
