Riiff Receives Honorable Mention for CACC Weekly Award
New Haven, CT – (10/11/2011) – Senior forward
Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) appeared on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Women’s Soccer Report for the second time this season, this time receiving an honorable mention for the Player of the Week award. Riiff scored the lone goal in a win at Felician College on Saturday, October 8, to help the Griffins to a 1-1 week of conference play.
After a 2-0 loss to Philadelphia University earlier in the week, Chestnut Hill College (6-6, 4-4) looked to even up their record on a weekend road trip to Felician College (7-3-1, 6-2-0). Shots were 16-10 in the Golden Falcons favor, on Saturday, October 8, but corners were 8-4 Griffins, leaving the contest even for a majority of play. Just before the 80-minute mark (79:39), Riiff wove her way through two Golden Falcon defenders and beat the goalkeeper to the upper right of the goal for a 1-0 Griffin advantage. Chestnut Hill College would hold onto the narrow lead for the remainder of regulation and a CACC victory.
Riiff leads the Griffins with 23 points, scoring ten goals and providing three assists. She ranks third in the CACC for goals (10), tied for second in points (23), and first in shots (57).
The women’s soccer team will break from their CACC schedule to host Dowling College in a 7:00 p.m. contest on Wednesday, October 12.
