Game-Winner versus Lady Chargers Scores Fitzgerald CACC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll Mention
New Haven, Conn. - (4/8/2019) – Junior midfielder Spencer Fitzgerald (Huntingtown, Md.) totaled seven goals, eight ground balls, and three caused during Chestnut Hill College’s 1-1 week of league play to earn mention on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll.
Chestnut Hill College (3-5, 2-1) continued their CACC schedule on Wednesday, April 3, with a trip to Georgian Court University. There, the Lions posted a 15-1 victory over the Griffins as senior midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.) accounted for the only Scarlet and Gold goal with a late first-half tally (10-1, 8:43) off the feed from sophomore midfielder Angela Faraglia (Clifton Heights, Pa.). Fitzgerald offered as much support as she could with two ground balls and a draw.
Saturday’s highly competitive CACC contest versus Dominican College came down the final possession as a Lady Charger turnover gave the Griffins the ball with only 56 seconds (0:56) remaining. Following a Scarlet and Gold timeout, Fitzgerald served as the hero, beating her defender to the Dominican College cage and scoring the game-winner with just seven seconds (0:07) remaining in the affair, 17-16. Fitzgerald and Reinert scored seven goals apiece in the victory with the other three Griffin goals coming from senior midfielder Kaley Malampy (Ridley Park, Pa.) (2 goals) and senior midfielder Macailagh Smith (Red Bank, N.J.) (1). Fitzgerald finished the affair with seven goals, six ground balls, a draw, and three caused turnovers.
