Griffin Trio Appears On CACC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Report
New Haven, Conn. - (4/22/2019) – Chestnut Hill College enjoyed an impressive 14-5 win over Wilmington University on Wednesday, April 17, with valuable contributions from the entire roster. The result was another Scarlet and Gold studded Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Report as senior defenseman Matthew Anderson (Yardley, Pa.) was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week, freshman goalkeeper Austin Jones (Courtice, Ontario, Canada) was crowned as the league’s Rookie of the Week, and sophomore attack Carson Rees (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) garnered Honor Roll recognition.
Rees’ five goals paced Chestnut Hill College (8-4, 3-0) in Wednesday night's 14-5 victory over CACC rival Wilmington University. The Scarlet and Gold outshot the Wildcats, 50-29, which allowed the home team to post a 6-1 halftime lead. Sophomore attack J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) (3 goals), junior attack Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) (2), senior midfielder John Bennett (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) (1), sophomore midfielder Ben Revak (Aston, Pa.) (1), senior attack Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.) (1), and freshman midfielder Steele Mylroie (Clyde Hill, Wash.) all contributed goals. Along with his five tallies, Rees also logged one assist, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. Anderson assisted on the Griffins’ final goal of the game (Revak, 4:13 (4th), 14-5), after totaling five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Meanwhile, Jones left the field (58:06) with his eighth (8-3) win of the season, 12 saves, and two ground balls.
