Philadelphia, PA – (10/15/2009) – With the temperature around freezing and rain falling down Chestnut Hill College travelled across town to face Holy Family University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. The Tigers owned a 2-0 halftime lead, before a determined Griffin squad responded with three, unanswered, second-half goals. The Griffins held a 3-2 advantage with 7:22 remaining, but the Tigers forced overtime and ended the frigid affair with an unassisted tally at 105:05.

Freshman midfielder Jeffrey Wimsey (Philadelphia, Pa.) struck the final ball of the game to earn Holy Family University (8-5-1, 4-3-1) the conference win. Chestnut Hill College (2-8-2, 1-6-2) contained the Tigers through one overtime after junior forward Seydou Ba (Mauritania) tied the contest with 6:26 left in regulation. Freshman goalkeeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ ) made nine saves, but a 35-10 shot it advantage allowed the Tigers to wear down the Griffin defenses and lead to the eventual overtime victory.

Freshman forward Carl Essenthier (Philadelphia, PA ) had a hand in each of the Griffins' three goals, scoring two of them with help from sophomore forward Billy Shulski (Galloway, NJ ). Off the feed of Shulski, Essenthier scored the first Griffin goal at the 47-minute mark. He then set up fellow freshman forward Ryan Lannutti (Calabasas, CA ) at 74:44, before hooking up with Shulski again at 82:38. The Griffins made the most of their scoring opportunities, as the Tigers' sophomore goalkeeper Mark Ferretti (Voorhees, N.J.) made only three saves in the win.

The men's soccer team welcomes Nyack College to campus on Saturday, October 17, for a 3:00 p.m. CACC contest.
