Lafayette Hill, PA – (10/17/2009) – Nyack College got started early against Chestnut Hill College this afternoon, taking a 1-0 advantage at 4:27 of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The Warriors carried the momentum through much of the affair and after leading 2-0 at halftime, they score twice more in the closing frame to take the conference game by a 4-0 final.

Nyack College (6-8-1, 5-4-1) added to their 1-0 lead at 13:18 on an unassisted strike from senor forward Joel Bicknell (Sandown, N.H.). After scoring the first Warrior goal on a tic-tac-toe play, Bicknell bent a ball from the far right side to the far left of the net to beat the Griffins' freshman goalkeeper, Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ ). Nyack College outshot the Griffins 11-3 in the opening frame with most of the Griffin opportunities coming off the effort of sophomore forward Billy Shulski (Galloway, NJ ). However, the Warriors led 2-0 at the break.

Chestnut Hill College (2-9-2, 1-7-2) looked to cut the deficit in the second half, unfortunately, Bicknell found junior midfielder Ryan Campo (Mastic, N.Y.) at 51:14 to extend the Warrior advantage to 3-0. Soon after the Griffins refocused with freshman forward Carl Essenthier (Philadelphia, PA ) and sophomore midfielder Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland ) leading the charge. But the Griffin efforts were foiled again, as the Warriors put the game out of reach with their fourth goal of the afternoon at 67:36. Goldstein made seven saves in the loss. Junior goalkeeper Adrian Ibanez (Toronto, Canada) earned the win for Nyack College; he made three saves in the shutout.

At halftime of this afternoon's contest the Griffins recognized their senior class for their contributions to men's soccer program; Robert Larkin (Westampton, NJ ), Ryan Roberts (Sicklerville, NJ ), Yannick Wallace (Bowie, MD ), and Mike Zachwieja (Philadelphia, PA ). The men's soccer team heads to Bloomsburg University for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, October 20.
