Lafayette Hill, PA – (10/17/2009) – Freshman midfielder Amanda Botbyl (Mays Landing, NJ ) helped Chestnut Hill College generate offense through the wind and rain, as the Griffins defeated Nyack College 2-0 in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. Botyl first crossed a ball to the head of freshman forward Jordan Wagner (New Cumberland, PA ) for the first goal at 31:48. Then she scored a goal of her own 13 minutes later.

Chestnut Hill College (10-5-1, 7-3-1) commanded play early, firing nine shots at junior goalkeeper Shannon McNeeley (Pittman, N.J.) in the opening half. At 31:48, the Warrior defense broke as Botbyl served a ball across the Nyack College (3-9-2, 2-7-2) box to the head of Wagner. She put it to the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season and a 1-0 Griffin lead. Almost 13 minutes later, Botbyl received a pass from freshman midfielder Alyssa Radetich (Sewell, NJ ) and she scored it from the center of the pitch to extend the Griffin advantage to 2-0. They carried that lead to halftime.

Following the break, the Griffins continued to pressure the Warriors. However, neither side could alter the outcome as the Griffins' 2-0 lead lasted to the final horn. Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE ) won her eighth game of the year making three saves. McNeeley made four saves for Nyack College in the loss.

At halftime, the Griffins recognized their senior class for their contributions to women's soccer program; Nicole Burgess, Gabriella Campo (Williamstown, NJ ), Jackie Nevius (Egg Harbor City, NJ ), and Julie Treen (Upper Township, NJ ). The women's soccer team will host Bloomsburg University in a 7:00 p.m. CACC match on Wednesday, October 21. The contest will be held at the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium.
