Bloomsburg, PA – (10/20/2009) – In an evening affair, the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team opposed Bloomsburg University. The Huskies held a 1-0 advantage at the break and with two second-half scores they defeated the Griffins by a 3-0 final. Freshman forward
Tyler Phillips (Ephrata, Pa.) scored twice, leading the Huskies.
Bloomsburg University (8-5-2) took the initial lead with an opening goal at 30:07; a rebound was collected and scored by Phillips to put the Huskies ahead 1-0. Phillips' strike was the only tally of the first half, as the Huskies held the narrow edge at halftime. Chestnut Hill College (2-10-2) supported freshman goalkeeper
Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ ) as best they could in the second half but the Huskies were able to add two late insurance tallies. Phillips firmed the lead with a goal at 84:18 and a third Huskies' goal with 20 seconds remaining sealed the contest.
Goldstein made eight saves in the loss for the Griffins. Senior goalkeeper
David Leiendecker (Easton, Pa.) collected the win and shutout for Bloomsburg University, making three saves in the contest.
The men's soccer team concludes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 2:00 p.m. contest at Post University on Saturday, October 24.
