Lafayette Hill, PA – (10/28/2009) – A deflected corner kick gave West Chester University a 1-0 advantage over Chestnut Hill College 12 minutes into this afternoon's home finale. The Griffins struggled to generate much offense as the Golden Rams extended their lead to 2-0 before halftime and used a 25-3 shot advantage to claim a 3-0 victory.

West Chester University (15-1-1) controlled the early going and a fortunate goal gave them the edge. Junior forward Sarah Oswald (Macungie, Pa.) sent a corner restart to the near post, luckily, it redirected off a Griffin defender to the corner of the net giving the Golden Rams a 1-0 lead at 11:55. The lead was extended to 2-0 at 23:43 on an unassisted score from junior defender Jessica Bennett (Littlestown, Pa.). The Golden Rams carried that lead to halftime.

Following the break, West Chester University kept the pressure on as they out-shot the Griffins 16-1 in the second half. As a result the Golden Rams got to freshman goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE ) once more. Senior midfielder Samantha Paolino (Landenberg, Pa.) finally added the third Golden Ram goal with 7:18 remaining in the contest to seal the victory. Freshman goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini (Elmer, N.J.) made the only save required earning the win for the Golden Rams.

Freshman forward Jordan Wagner (New Cumberland, PA ) led the Griffins with two shots; freshman midfielder Amanda Botbyl (Mays Landing, NJ ) had the other. Veazey made six saves in the loss for Chestnut Hill College (11-7-1).

The women's soccer team travels to St. Thomas Aquinas College for their final regular season contest of 2009. They will kick off against the Spartans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.
