Philadelphia, PA – (10/3/2009) – Senior Robert Larkin (Westampton, NJ ) and the Chestnut Hill College defense kept Dominican College contained through the opening half and freshman forward Ryan Lannutti (Calabasas, CA ) broke a three-game scoreless streak to bring the Griffins within one goal of the Chargers. Dominican College broke out late with two goals in the final ten minutes to win the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) affair 4-1.

Chestnut Hill College (1-7-1, 0-5-1) kept Dominican College (9-0-2, 4-0-1) scoreless through the first the opening 33:56 and the Chargers carried a 2-0 lead to halftime, but a goal from Lannutti at 68:29 brought on intense play for the final twenty minutes. Senior Joe Wright (Stratford-on-Avon, England) fueled the Chargers scoring the first goal, assisting on the second, and providing a late insurance score for five points in the contest. Larkin and fellow defenders, freshman Kyle Thornley (East Windsor, NJ ) and sophomore Nick Porretta (Hammonton, NJ ), did their best to keep the ball off  the goalkeepers, junior P.J Tucker (Woodstown, NJ ) and freshman goalkeeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ ). Lannutti scored from the right side on a cross serve from freshman forward Carl Essenthier (Philadelphia, PA ) to bring the margin to 2-1. Play was tight following the Griffins' goal, but the Chargers pulled away with two late strikes.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) earned the win for the visiting side and made six saves. Tucker made the start for the Griffins and took the loss with four saves, Goldstein mad five saves in the second half.

The men's soccer team hosts Philadelphia University at Plymouth Whitemarsh Football Stadium when they continue their CACC schedule with a 7:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, October 6.
