Philadelphia, PA – (8/30/2009) – East Stroudsburg University controlled play through much of this afternoon women's soccer contest. The Warriors out-shot Chestnut Hill College 26-5 and used a 2-0 halftime advantage to propel themselves to a 5-0 victory. Junior forward
Lindsay Foder (Tobyhanna, Pa.) headlined the Warriors offense while sophomore goalkeeper
Melissa Myers (Levittown, Pa.) and the East Stroudsburg University defense shutdown the Griffins.
Foder got East Stroudsburg University (2-1) an early 2-0 advantage scoring twice in the opening 23:39. The Warriors peppered the Chestnut Hill College (1-1) goalkeeper early and despite some brilliant saves, freshman goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE ) was unable to hold off the attack. The Griffins were able to settle play heading into halftime, as junior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ ) and junior midfielder Tara Morey (Pittsgrove, NJ ) were able to send a few strikes on net. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful and the Warriors took their 2-0 lead into the break.
East Stroudsburg University immediately separated themselves from the Griffins in the second half with goals coming at 45:33 and 45:55 from freshman midfielder Marissa Spitler (Montoursville, Pa.) and sophomore forward Rebecca Porcaro (Reading, PA.), respectively. Foder added another tally at 54:11 to give the Warriors a 5-0 lead and ensure the win.
