Bloomfield, NJ – (9/12/2009) – Junior midfielder Tara Morey (Pittsgrove, NJ )and freshman midfielder Alyssa Radetich (Sewell, NJ ) each netted goals as Chestnut Hill College defeated Bloomfield College 2-1 in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. Morey bent a corner kick directly into the Deacon goal at 9:33 and the Griffins held the advantage to halftime. Radetich added to the lead at the 59-minute mark to give the Griffins the insurance they would need to outlast Bloomfield College.

Morey netted a corner kick early in the first half to give Chestnut Hill College (3-2, 1-1) a 1-0 lead. The Griffins dominated play through the opening half, outshooting the Deacons 13-1. Play got tighter in the second half, but Radetich swiped a goal kick from a Deacon defender and punched it into the net extending the Griffins' advantage to 2-0.  Bloomfield College (2-2, 0-1) threatened late as junior forward Laura Nunnery (St. Simons Island, Ga.) connected on a direct kick cutting the lead to 2-1 at 77:48.  The Deacons kept the pressure on and rallied off a late offensive flurry, but freshman goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE ) and the Griffin defense preserved the 2-1 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kira Wagar (Rochester, N.Y.) made 11 saves in the loss for Bloomfield College. Veazey made six saves to earn her second win and grab the Griffins' their first CACC of the 2009 season. Junior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ ) led Chestnut Hill College with seven shots.

The women's soccer team hosts Georgian Court University for their next CACC contest; scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start on Tuesday, September 15.
