Wilmington, DE – (9/17/2009) – Senior midfielder Angel J. Rodriguez (Kennett Square, Pa.) gave the Chestnut Hill College defense all they could handle as he tallied four goals on eight shots, leading Goldey-Beacom College to a 5-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory. Rodriguez scored the opening goal of the contest at 9:34 and he would add three more scores while also assisting on the other Lightning goal for nine points in the game.

Rodriguez's first goal gave Goldey-Beacom College (3-2, 1-0) the early lead, 1-0, and the Lightning carried their advantage to the break. Senior defenseman David Nimroozi (Bear, Del.) added to the Lightning lead with a goal at 57:33, but the Griffins responded quickly with an unassisted goal on a direct kick from freshman Carl Essenthier (Philadelphia, PA ) at 61:17. Nevertheless, Rodriguez soon quieted the Griffins' chance at a comeback with goals at 63:03 and 64:39. Chestnut Hill College (1-3-1, 0-1-1) was persistent, and an unassisted goal from sophomore midfielder Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland ) shortened the deficit to 4-2 with 15:39 remaining. Unfortunately, time ran thin as Rodriguez's netted his fourth goal at 75:34 to put the game out of reach for the Griffins.

Junior goalkeeper P.J Tucker (Woodstown, NJ ) made one save in the loss, while Lightning freshman goalkeeper Ignacio Farias (Maracay, Venezuela) totaled four saves and collected the win.

The men's soccer team continues their CACC schedule on Saturday, September 19, when they host Caldwell College in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
