Philadelphia, PA – (10/12/2010) – Just 1:43 remained on the clock when Wilmington University recorded this afternoon's only goal as the Wildcats gave Chestnut Hill College their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss of the season, 1-0. Junior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) led the Griffins with six shots and sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) made ten saves in a meeting between the league's top two teams.

Chestnut Hill College (10-2-2, 8-1-1) ended the first half with a flurry of shots taking the momentum into halftime. They continued to pressure Wilmington University (9-2, 8-0) late with Riiff leading another series of Griffin attacks. However, sophomore goalkeeper Brooke Eveler (Felton, PA) and the Wildcat defense held fast. At 87:51, Eveler stopped a Riiff strike and cleared the Wildcat box with a punt to midfield. The loose ball eventually found sophomore forward Brittany Rhodes (Baltimore, MD), who had pestered Veazey all afternoon. Rhodes dribbled the ball to her right, before ripping a 25-yard bullet to the Griffin goal and putting the Wildcats up 1-0 with less than two minutes remaining (88:17). The deficit would endure to the final horn.

Eveler made eight saves in the win (7-1) for Wilmington University. Junior defender Kory Webster (Abington, MD) led the Wildcats with five shots. Rhodes and freshman midfielder Jordanne Hoesli-Atkins (Middlesex, England) each supplied three shots.

The women's soccer team heads to Nyack College for their next CACC contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16.
