Orangeburg, NY – (10/2/2010) – Junior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) first helped freshman forward Marykate McShane (Lebanon, PA) for a goal at 13:02, then she scored two of her own goals in the second half to lead Chestnut Hill College to a 3-1 win over Dominican College this afternoon. The Griffins remain undefeated in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a 6-0-1 record.
Dominican College (5-3, 3-3) held the early momentum with an 8-3 shot advantage in the first half, but Chestnut Hill College (7-1-2, 6-0-1) was first on the scoreboard. Riiff supplied her third assist of the season when she teamed up with McShane at 13:02. The Lady Chargers responded just before halftime (41:29) to knot the affair at 1-1 heading to intermission.
Shots were even in the second half, 7-7, but Riiff was the only player to find the back of the net, scoring at 66:37 and 88:05. Sophomore defender Shannon Catts (Elmer, NJ) provided an assist of Riiff's first score. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) made seven saves in the win (7-1-2).
The women's soccer team will open an evening doubleheader against Lincoln University with a 5:00 p.m. at Victory Field #1 on Monday, October 4.
