Warriors Overpower Women’s Soccer

East Stroudsburg, PA – (10/12/2010) – The Warriors scored twice in each half while limiting Chestnut Hill College to six shots in the contest, leading East Stroudsburg University (ESU) over the Griffins, 4-0. Sophomore midfielder Maggie Faselt (Newtown, NJ) took the first shot affair, but the Warriors would control play throughout the remainder of the afternoon.

Sophomore forward Bridgett Connell (Langhorne, PA) got East Stroudsburg University (6-7-1) going with an unassisted goal at 37:13. The Warriors added another goal two minutes before halftime (42:55) to carry a 2-0 advantage into intermission. Following the break, the Warriors continued to pressure sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) until senior midfielder Kailyn Buckley (Wilmington, DE) made the score 3-0 with an unassisted strike at 56:59. The fourth Warrior goal followed at 76:31. Junior goalkeeper Melissa Myers (Levittown, PA) played the first 80 minutes for ESU and she made five saves while collecting the win (5-6-1).

Junior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) led Chestnut Hill College (11-3-2) with two shots on goal, four others contributed one shot. Veazey made five saves and took the loss (10-3-2), playing the opening 80 minutes of the contest.

The women's soccer team returns home to conclude their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season schedule with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Bloomfield College on Senior Day, Saturday, October 23. The Griffins will recognize their graduating seniors in a brief halftime ceremony.
